The Voodoo Blue Toyota Tundra hitched to the trailer with the Can-Am Commander strapped down on the deck

The Truck That
Hauls It All

Every trip starts the same way: the Tundra takes the hitch, the Commander goes on the deck, and the whole rig points north. It is the first link in the chain, and it came from Sean Sargent Toyota in Grande Prairie.

A thank you to the team at Sean Sargent Toyota in Grande Prairie, who put us in this Tundra on a deal good enough that the rest of the setup became possible.

The Hauler

2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport Premium

A Voodoo Blue Tundra on the 5.7L i-FORCE V8, and the only vehicle on the trip that has to do everything. It carries the people, tows the trailer, and gets the whole outfit from the driveway to the last road on the map.

What the Tundra Hauls

Nothing else in the setup moves on its own. The Can-Am goes where the truck cannot, and the trailer turns into the camp at the end of the day, but both of them get to the trailhead on the back of the Tundra.

The backcountry machine, built and serviced at Stojan’s Power Sports & Marine. It rides in on the trailer, then carries the work past where the truck has to stop.

The Dream Build

Truck, Trailer, and Machine

This is what we are working towards: racks on the back, our own colours down the sides, and the Commander and the Blackout hooked up behind. The truck and the machine are real and out on trips right now. The racks and the wrap are still on the list.

The Dealership

Where the Tundra Came From

Sean Sargent Toyota is the Toyota store in Grande Prairie, and it is where both our trucks came from. They gave us a good enough deal on the Tundra that the rest of the setup became affordable, and it has been out front of everything we film ever since.

The Tundra has done everything we have asked of it since: the Grande Prairie to Grande Cache runs, the Highway 40 corridor, and the haul over to Tumbler Ridge with the Commander on behind. Their frame is still on the back of it.

Before the Tundra

The Tacoma Did It First

The 2016 Tacoma is Stacie’s truck now, but for a long time it was the one doing the towing. It pulled the trailer, carried the gear, and got us to the trailheads that started all of this, back when the whole outfit was smaller.

It also came from Sean Sargent Toyota. Two trucks, one dealership, and a lot of kilometres between them. Thank you for both.

Building Your Own

Every Setup Starts With the Tow Vehicle

Before the machine and before the trailer, something has to pull it. If you are working out what yours should be, the Grande Prairie store is worth a conversation.
